Engaged Japan Homes back in 2017 to build the minor dwelling, it was a "turn key" service — a complete build project and you will get the key in the end. It wasn't the cheapest provider but the quality is right up there. One thing I noticed is that Mickey always likes to keep the site clean (saw him cleaning the site a few times myself), little details show a lot — will definitely consider them if we gonna build again.

Japan Homes did my whole house renovation a few years ago. They were easy to communicate with, very efficient, and completed the work on time. Their owner, Mickey, is a trustworthy person and very conscientious. We were very happy to deal with them.

We selected Japan Homes based on our building development experience in California and interviewed about ten home builders in Auckland. Japan Homes started the project from removal of an existing home and built four brand new homes. It was difficult throughout COVID but nothing was too much trouble. The best quality was honesty and integrity. The sub-contractors were of a very high standard and the costing was fair and accurate. Quality was excellent. The homes have been rented for three years now and the tenants not only really like where they live but we have had no problem with anything to date. Accountability is the main reason why we chose Japan Homes. Since the 5 years after completion of our house, Mickey and his team have been incredibly helpful with ongoing maintenance. While no one is perfect, they are constantly striving for perfection.

We worked with Japan Homes on the initial consent planning and later engaged them to build two duplexes (4 houses total), completed in 2024. Overall, it has been a very positive experience. What stood out the most is that the handover was not the end of their involvement. They remained committed to addressing any issues that came up after completion. Keita (site manager) has been very responsive and never hesitated to come by and sort things out when needed. That consistency, follow-up, and willingness to resolve issues really reflects the company's approach. They also kept thorough records of everything — paint details, design specs, warranties — which makes it very easy to access information when needed down the track. Mickey (owner) was also very generous and even sponsored the garage carpets for the new builds, which was a nice touch. Overall, the team at Japan Homes are pleasant to deal with and work well together. If I were to build again, I would definitely consider them again for their consistency and the peace of mind they provide.

I commissioned a full renovation of my 50-year-old North Shore home. I was completely satisfied with everything, from the plumbing and electrical work to the interior and exterior painting and the project timeline. After the renovation, it really stood out on the street, so much so that a neighbour's house chose the same colour scheme. Now that I've returned to Japan, I'm renting it out, and the tenants are happy, allowing me to rent it out at a high price.
